Discover the turn of France plot near our campsite 4 stars

It is official, the Tour de France will spend 3 days in the Dordogne, on 10, 11 and 12 July !

It will cross the different Périgords making up the region as well as the village of Montignac-Lascaux located near the camping La Fage.

A 100% Perigourdine stage just a few kilometers from our campsite in Vallée Vézère.

 

On July 11, 2017, the Tour de France will make a stop in the Dordogne, for a journey of 178 kilometers, through the valley of the Vézère and the valley of the Dordogne.

This will be the tenth stage of this tour, just after passing the Alps.

The riders will cross numerous beautiful villages, sometimes classified, as well as the village of Montignac and its international center of parietal art: the new Lascaux 4, located only a few kilometers from our campsite.

For this day 10, the race will start from Périgueux in green Périgord.. Riders will pass the villages of Saint Pierre de Chignac, Fossemagne, Thenon and Auriac du Périgord among others.

Then they’ll arrive in the heart of the valley Vézère, in black Périgord, famous for its gastronomy and its cultural richness. Cradle of prehistory, they will cross to begin the magnificent village of Montignac-Lascaux, located only 10 kilometers from our family camping 4 stars La Fage.

This stage will allow viewers but also holidaymakers to discover the architecture of the town as well as the new international center of parietal art – Lascaux 4, reproduction of the cave of Lascaux.

Shooting via helicopters, among others, allows to enjoy the beautiful area !

The race will continue in the direction of Thonac, Tursac and Les Eyzies de Tayac, or many prehistoric sites and caves are to visit such as the Thot (in addition to the caves of Lascaux), The prehistoric site of Castel Merle, La Roque Saint Christophe and La Madeleine (ancient troglodytic dwellings), the Fond de Gaume caves and the caves of the rock of Cazelle, the international pole of Prehistory …

 

The tour of France will pass through the Valley of the Dordogne.


Then the race will go the Dordogne valley, crossing the beautiful city of Sarlat-la-Canéda, well known for its architecture, geese, the big door of its market and its annual film festival.

There will be a magnificent spectacle, with views of the villages along the Dordogne river, canoes trips, as well as the many castles overlooking the Dordogne valley such as Les Milandes, former mansions of Josephine Backer, Castles of Castelnaud and Beynac …

To finish this stage, the riders of the peloton will follow the direction of Le Buisson, Couze for an arrival at the end of the day in Bergerac, in Périgord Rouge, synonymous with wines.
