AN IDEAL BODY OF WATER FOR SWIMMING
Located 8 km south of the campsite La Fage****, the pond of Tamniès is an artificial lake of 5 hectares created in the late 1960s. It was born from the need to have a large water reservoir to irrigate the fields. In the early 1980’s, local officials realized that the pond and its green setting had great tourist potential. Several development works have been carried out, and facilities have been created to attract visitors: a sandy beach of 4,500 m², sanitary facilities, a pontoon, shaded picnic tables, parking areas, children’s playgrounds, facilities to promote fishing and kayaking, a refreshment stand… Since 2011, the Tamniès pond has proudly been awarded the “Pavillon bleu”, a label that rewards the efforts of the municipality and its environmental approach.
FISHING IN THE POND OF TAMNIÈS
Fishing in the Tamniès pond is authorized from May 1st to December 31st during the day, from sunrise to sunset. You must have a fishing card to practice this activity (3 lines per fisherman maximum). You can obtain a daily fishing ticket (10 €), a seasonal card valid during the whole opening period (40 € per person / 60 € per couple) or an end of season card valid from September to December (20 €) from the town hall or by mail. You will be able to catch carp, tench, roach, pike, perch, zander, gudgeon and sturgeon. Fishing is allowed in both ponds, but is recommended in the small pond in summer (July-August).
A PLACE OF ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR VACATIONS
The pond of Tamniès is a place of relaxation, bathing and sporting activities adapted to the families. Near the swimming area you will find a tennis court, a bowling alley, a volleyball court and ping-pong tables. Want to take a walk between a fishing trip and a refreshing bath? Take the Gargagnasse interpretation trail (1h30, 3.7 km). The route starts from the pond and goes through the hamlet of Castanet, the commune of Tamniès and the charming landscape of the Beunes. Dogs are allowed on the grassy areas. Price: 2 € per day and per person. Free for children under 5 years old.
