TRADITIONAL GARDENS

First of all, let’s mention the traditional gardens with the unavoidable hanging garden in Dordogne, 30 minutes away from the campsite. Also known as the Marqueyssac gardens, you will find 22 hectares of land for a romantic stroll between the 18th century castle and a belvedere overlooking the Dordogne, a via ferrata for the more adventurous and the skeleton of a 150 million year old Allosaurus 7.5 meters long for dinosaur enthusiasts.

25 minutes away, in the heart of a 200-hectare wooded park, are the French gardens of the Eyrignac manor. You will discover 10 hectares of plant sculptures. Labelled “remarkable garden” in 2004, the fountains, ponds, rose garden and the 300 boxwoods, yews and sculpted hornbeams, jewels of topiary art, will delight you.

THEMATIC GARDENS

If you are looking for more original gardens, once again the Dordogne will satisfy you.
Visit the Water Gardens of Carsac, 35 minutes from our establishment, a walk between Lotus and Water Lilies to the sound of water. A bucolic stroll, accompanied by majestic dragonflies, between the pools, waterfalls or in the middle of the aquatic labyrinth unique in Europe.
40 minutes away, the panoramic gardens of Limeuil and the splendid view at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers await you. There are many themed gardens here: the arboretum, the medieval garden, the garden of colors or the witch’s garden and many others. Beyond the gardens, the view on the junction of the 2 rivers, the Dordogne and the Vézère is splendid.
Finally, let us note the gardens of the imagination of Terrasson Lavilledieu. These contemporary gardens are made up of different terraces symbolizing the sacred wood, the green theater, the gardens of the Middle Ages, the water gardens or the rose garden. The visit of these gardens will be the opportunity for you to visit the medieval city of Terrasson and its splendid church overlooking the city at less than 30 minutes from La Fage.

THE GARDENS OF THE CASTLES

When we talk about the gardens of the Dordogne, how can we not talk about the numerous castles and their magnificent gardens.
Let’s start with the garden of the castle of Milandes, built in the 15th century and rehabilitated in 1900, it became Josephine Baker’s home in 1937. The park and the French gardens, classified as historical monuments, are decorated with a show of birds of prey and numerous workshops for adults and children.
About ten minutes from the campsite, discover the castle of Losse. This medieval fortress was transformed in 1576 into a renaissance style castle and includes a “remarkable garden” labeled in 2004, a superb site overlooking the Vézère.
The list of the gardens of castles is very long, let us note nevertheless to finish the splendid French gardens and the landscaped park of Hautefort, or the vast park of the castle of Jumilhac, impossible to circumvent of your visit of Black Périgord in Dordogne.
