A stone’s throw away from our campsite, discover Sarlat capital of the Périgord Noir. Sarlat is a medieval historical city whose origin is before the ninth century, which developed around a Benedictine abbey.
It is height in the thirteenth century.
The town is composed of alleys, mews and squares is exceptionally well preserved.
This state of conservation and the 65 monuments and protected buildings which make up the historical centre of Sarlat have allowed it to be the first city to benefit in 1964 from the Malraux law concerning the restoration of the protected sectors.
15 minutes from our campsite, discover this colourful city, its picturesque streets, its mansions with their slate roofs or even the house where Étienne de La Boétie was born.
See the city from abovefrom the belvedere in the old church of Sainte-Marie, which also hosts the covered market with its gigantic door, next to the famous statues of the three geese,with a popular place for a snapshot.
Sarlat, activities throughout the year …
The architecture and the state of conservation of Sarlat make the framework of many films, more than 80 since the fifties of which “Joan of Arc” of Luc Besson, “Les Misérables” by Robert Hossein and “The Daughter of d’Artagnan” by Bertrand Tavernier.
The city is also home to many events including the Truffle Festival, the Goose Festival “Fest’oie”, the film festival and La Ringueta, a festival of traditional games of yesteryear.
Throughout the summer season, many shows, musicians and artists entertain in the streets and squares.
Markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays are also a must for our campsite guests.
