The Black Perigord is in the South Eastern Department of the Dordogne, it is renowned for its Tourist attractions. It is an area of historic interest with Sarlat-la-Caneda as its capital. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful with a variety of valleys and forests each one teeming with nature. There are many sites to see on family visits, gardens, castles, caves, medieval ruins were history and culture abound. Through the woodlands are many hiking trails which are sure to please.

During your holidays at our campsite we can help you plan your visits to these areas and for this purpose we have put together a little guide for places which you may wish to see, you will also find information at the Tourist offices.

Many Historic Monuments to visit

Although we are not a tourist office we know the area very well and have selected several site seeing places in the Black Perigord. These are located not far from our campsite and are easily accessible on foot, by car or bicycle. To start the tour we recommend the historic monuments at Lascaux Caves situated in the beautiful Vezere Valley which are very interesting and are just one of several pre-historic sites in the area. If you are interested in finding out more details of these together with the gardens, castles etc please ask a member of our team who will only be too pleased to inform you of the addresses, times and price of admission.

Don’t forget, there are many charming and interesting villages in our the Black Perigord which are well worth a visit.

Preserved Natural sites typical of the Dordogne

This area is a magical place, very old with an exceptional natural environment you can discover it on foot, bicycle or horseback, travel down the river by boat or canoe. Wherever you go you will discover ancient sites with guided tours to help you understand the wonders of the Black Perigord.

Maps and routes are often available for free from the tourists offices of the department, or you may use our inter-active map to locate places. You will find many outdoor activities in the Valleys of the Dordogne and Vezere, similarly, the peace and quite of the rolling green countryside is ideal to relax and unwind in with maybe a picnic.
